Stand still
A great piece of advice I was given is to stand still. Just stop everything. Put everything on hold. Decide not to decide right now. Do not start anything new. Do not finish anything you started.
Just do this for a short time, a couple of weeks perhaps.
Wait and observe
What are you worrying about?
If there’s something you really need or want to do, it will be on your mind.
What do you miss?
If you are craving something or someone it must be important to you.
What are the consequences?
If there are none maybe it’s not as important as you thought.
Who notices?
It might surprise you who is actually paying attention.
What happens?
While you are standing still others might continue to pull you along (for better or worse!)
After you’ve been quietly standing still for a while things might look a little different. It’s easier to see if the chaos is coming from inside (saying yes to everything, under slept, always indoors) or is coming from outside (your family isn’t doing their share, a demanding friend, hidden illness). If you can see it you can start, little by little, to do something about it.
It could be that standing still is simply more pleasant than constant movement and you would love nothing more than a quieter life.
It could be that standing still makes you realize you are so still already you are having a bore-out and you want to make some dates and go on a run before you actually turn to stone.
Be the eye of your storm. Stand still.
