According to the internet soon means:
In the near future; shortly: The bus should be here soon.
Just prior to something; shortly: The news broke soon before he resigned.
Without hesitation; promptly or speedily: I came as soon as possible.
With willingness; readily: I'd as soon leave right now.
Here is another definition according to the Urban Dictionary:
"Soon" does not imply any particular date, time, decade, century, or millennia in the past, present, and certainly not the future.
In my experience the latter is more accurate.
Soon seems to mean:
I don’t know.
Stop asking me.
I don’t want to say no to you.
I want to retain your high esteem.
I want it to happen but I don’t know how to make it happen.
I am waiting for something over which I also have no control.
If you are inflicted with Soon for too long, after a while there is only Now.
It isn’t happening Now.
It is not going to happen Now.
If and when Soon comes around it will be Now then anyway. So let’s forget about Soon and focus on Now.
So what shall we do Now?
