I have a stack of work hidden away that is almost finished. Most of it needs a minor clean up, addition of hangers or for the solder to be blackened (or all 3). These items will be finished!
I also have a couple of projects I am working on for other people. One involves a piece of fabric and another is to re-purpose some Murano glass that got broken. I’d like to finish those too.
Some of the glass I’ve made is inspired by or directly taken from photographs. I want to pair these so I’ll start experimenting with this process by posting the glass and the photo it came from together.
Glass Goals
- To complete the finishing touches to anything that needs it
- To finish the panel for J
- To create something for M
- Photograph all my finished work and post it on [Instagram]
The Task List comes to over 70 items, which is incredible! There’s range of items to:
- purchase
- finish
- photograph (including the ones I need to finish)
- post to [insta]
- send in the mail
The Rules of Engagement
- Photos do not have to be amazing hipster masterpieces at this point. Halfway decent is fine.
- The goals are to finish, photograph and mail. Posting of pics can be done over time, however all pics must be posted.
- I don’t want to get distracted into making new work while I’m finishing the existing work. I’ll note ideas as they come and they can have a turn as a separate Operation.
- As ever, plan A comes first so this could take me some time and as ever, there is no deadline.
- The tracking tools of choice are the Task List and a very simple bujo overview. I want to clearly see how many days across a week or month I was spending on Glass Goals in the end.
If anything ends up on the Punch List I can see it being the mail items. I don’t foresee any Transitions (see the intro post to understand what I am referring to). I have no idea how long this is going to take!
Right now I am assuming the bulk of the work will take place during my evening classes and at the weekend when there is daylight to photograph. My weekends are generally overbooked and chaotic. Will this bring some structure and focus?
This will be a good moment to gauge any feedback from the people who follow my social media (mostly friends but some artists too). I’m curious what kind of comments, if any, I get and I’m also curious how it will look when all items are posted and if scrolling through I can recognize any clear themes. I made up a hashtag for my glass because I think hastags are fun: #ineedanotherplaster
First I’ll finish the Week of Walks and it is interesting to note that now that I’ve made this plan I feel quite eager to get started, which is good! Part of these experiments is not only to finish but to focus and to pace myself. So no jumping ahead – Plan A, Week of Walks and then Glass Goals.
I better make sure I have plenty of plasters.
