Daily stuff:
- Get up on time to not rush before work
- Lunch walk/leave the house
- Evening chores - shopping/cooking/eating/laundry
- Messages (not going to monitor this)
- Exercise
- Bedtime routine
Weekly stuff:
- Appointments – social and evening classes
- Cleaning
- Fresh towels & empty the garbage (I often forget to empty the small bins and they are full of snotty tissues which is gross)
Annoying stuff (the outcomes are not annoying, the processes sometimes are):
- Admin (bitty misc. as my Mum would call it)
- Personal finance
- Birthdays – being prepared and on time! (bad at this)
- Vacation arrangements
There are some common things that you may have expected to see on this list that I am not going to add because I already do them:
- Making the bed
- Flossing
- Drinking water
- 5 a day fruit and veggies
- Gratitude journal
- Take vitamins
- What is easy for some people is difficult for others: remembering to take vitamins is easy for me. Routines innit.
- What is essential to me may mean nothing to you: I never get into my bed at night if it is unmade. I’ll make it and then get in. Even when I’m sick.
I will use my bujo to track these tasks. There can be gaps so I am aiming for a success rate of 50% or more. A quick analysis of my current bujo tells me that during both January and February I consistently covered well over half of the basics I was tracking, so this seems completely achievable. Already this is a bit of a surprise. See, I am already doing it! I just need to keep doing it. Achievement!
The only thing I have added to the Basics that causes me some concern is evening exercise. To help me with this I want to remember that:
- I secretly enjoy exercise
- If I exercise I look better through my own eyes even though I look the same
- It’s good for my skin and circulation
- It’s relaxing
- It’s distracting because I am not thinking about anything else
- It frees me from worry
Let the Basics begin!
