Do you remember when Somebody I Used to Know by Gotye was always on the radio? Personally I’m still not tired of it. It’s a great video too.

I stalked you for a bit online. I admire the way you collaborate with all kinds of artists, not just musicians, and that you did interesting things with body paint and your crazy outfits. You still wear crazy outfits, I know this because I checked your Instagram. I listened to the album Vows a few times and there was one song in particular that got caught in my head.
Sally I Can See You is one of those tracks that I feel irrationally embarrassed about liking so much (sorry!) It’s not cool, but I think it’s genuine and when I google it I can’t find it anywhere as if even you think it would be a strange choice to promote. For me though, it’s the stand out track by far.

See, it’s blank. That’s weird. Why is it blank Kimbra?
Sally I Can See You is all about aiming for personal success, following your own path and alienating the people you love along the way. It’s about everything being new and also familiar, because it’s what you really want. It’s about how you change to the point that you don’t know how you got to where you are and you don’t recognise yourself. Yet inside you are exactly the same. Isn’t it?
It’s not like it was before. My hair’s short and my jeans are torn.
I like that line because my hair is short and it takes a certain amount of courage to keep it short because in general men do not find short hair appealing on a female and will say it over and over again and tell you that you look like a boy. Is that what they said to you when you cut your hair shorter?
I would describe the music as ´plinky´ and later there is some pacey drumming. You have an impressive vocal range. There is some kind of backwards music at the end, that reminds me of the pretty backwards music Moby made in the 1990’s, and the backwards music makes me think it´s not over this song, there is much more of the story in other songs.
This is the song that started the Mouse Carnival so I have you to thank for that. I love it and yet it makes me cringe because it appeals in a way that is almost too direct. I want to be more mysterious than this!
You mention shaking the hand of the man who can give you your dreams and that’s definitely something you can expect at the Mouse Carnival; dreams coming true and some creepy guy making you offers and telling you you´d have more success if you had longer hair (which is a true story that happened to me in real life).
Here’s the track posted by someone who loves Slipknot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4P2Bdf80Wo
Thanks Kimbra! Thank you for your inspirational song and for being number one on the Mouse Carnival. You are awesome!
Love Kim xxx
P.S. Isn’t it cool that we have similar names? Although your name is much cooler.
